Aspen, ColoradoMountain House Lodge is a member of the Aspen Chamber of Commerce and works closely with the Aspen Valley Hospital, Aspen Music Festival and Wheeler Opera House.

The Mountain House Lodge has evolved into its current state through some interesting and fun history. Established in 1973, the Lodge was named Rick’s Rack’s with bunk beds renting for $3/night. Patrons remember being able to ski down the back stairs right into the 2 Spiket Bar! Back then it wasn’t really the family lodge it is now.

The Bed & Breakfast philosophy used to be the first person up made breakfast for everyone else. Now, guests are treated to a full buffet breakfast during the winter and continental breakfast in summer served to you by the friendly Lodge staff!

Back in the day, there was an old hot tub on the back deck, but had to be removed as a local bear kept using it. We promise the new hot tub won’t include furry friends with four feet!

Around 1990, the Lodge was then upgraded and opened as the Endeavor Lodge with the addition of the East side of the building adding 12 more rooms for a total of 24.

Stu and Linda Nichols have been managing the Mountain House Lodge since 2004. The International flavor is alive at the Mountain House Lodge with staff from all over the world including Brazil, Mexico, Poland, Jamaica, Holland and more. "We are quiet, quaint and caring staff that are embedded in the Aspen community" states Linda Nichols.

This lodge is snuggled in a quiet downtown neighborhood with the Roaring Fork River a half block out the front door running alongside the Rio Grande Bike Trail that takes you all the way down valley to Carbondale and Glenwood Springs. Four blocks out the front door is Smuggler Mountain, the entrance to Hunter Creek Valley and some of the finest hiking and biking trails in the Aspen Mountains.

Guest’s have been returning year after year and many remember the old Rick’s Rack’s days. Many a times you can be in the Lodge Lobby and hear people reminiscing.

We hope to create lasting memories for you and your family to cherish for years
to come!
